Rosie the Riveter rose to fame during WWII as a cultural icon used in wartime propaganda to encourage women, mainly housewives, to enter the workforce. She came out first in a song, then in a film. The image featured on this patch was actually not associated with Rosie the Riveter during wartime. The poster was only used in the Midwest and disappeared for decades until it was rediscovered in the 1980s and attached to the Rosie the Riveter name. It then became a figurehead for feminism and women’s rights. Join the movement and remember that you can do anything with this awesome patch.
