Completed in 1885 by Bess Truman's grandfather, 219 North Delaware was home to the Trumans.
After their marriage in 1919, Harry moved in with Bess's family. Known as the ''Summer White House'' from 1945 to 1953, the home remained in the family until Mrs. Truman's death in 1982. She left the house to the people of the United States and 219 North Delaware became part of the National Park System in 1983.
