Change and Creativity During the Pandemic

Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, it's no shock that life has been turned upside down for everyone.

While adjusting to change can be difficult, some people have used this time to learn new skills and take up new hobbies.

According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, 45% of adults say the pandemic has affected their mental health. Having a creative outlet during this time is not uncommon as it allows us to occupy our minds and time. Creativity allows us to express emotions we feel when we are unable to be around loved ones, shifting work environments, losing loved ones as a result of the virus, the cancellation of events and plans we were looking forward to, and so much more.

Additionally, these creative outlets help us excel in other aspects of our lives too.

In LinkedIn’s Top 5 in-demand soft skills for 2020, creativity is ranked #1. This is because when we are creative in our hobbies and personal lives, it is reflected in our professional lives as well. Utilizing creative outlets allows us to think out-of-the-box. It demonstrates the ability to find creative solutions and be open-minded to new approaches.

For example, if there is a new project you’re tasked with at work, you’ll be able to tap into the creativity you have been exploring in your personal life and translate that into your work, allowing you to think of new approaches and solutions.  All because you are thinking creatively and challenging yourself to think differently at home.

Everyone has different creative outlets! Which outlet will you pursue to inspire creativity in your life?

Some customize their face mask to match their style and fashion as a creative and fun way to express themselves. Customers stop by our shop daily looking to find that perfect patch to add to their mask. Since wearing a mask is now a part of our daily lives, might as well do it in style!

Maybe find a more creative/fun way to complete your work-at-home tasks? How about trying a new board game to play with the family? Re-decorate that guest room?  How about spending time to DIY your favorite loungewear with your favorite superhero patches?
